  • Pecan Shaker celebrates the timeless tradition of pecan shaking. Except this time, you're the pecan tree and the shaker is miles of gravel roads. In 2024 we are moving this ride to the spring, so it's more like Pecan Blossom, than Shaker. Either way, you'll speed past pecan groves and through fish hatcheries, private timberlands, watermelon, sunflower and peanut fields and over a wide variety of surface conditions. Similar to the terrain on our Bird Dog 100 course, you'll encounter Georgia red clay, red dirt, white kaolin, loam, dust over crust, and of course....the loose stuff! This is one of our favorite courses and it definitely shows!

    Short: 41 mi - 1,000’ Elevation

    Intermediate: 72 mi - 2,200’ Elevation

    Long: 106 mi - 3,400’ Elevation

    Notes:

There can be washouts, controlled burns (which you think they'd post that...) or even timber being pulled which we don't always get notified about. This means the course may change A LOT before race day.

We also have a lot of private roads and field cuts we don't want people trespassing on before race day. We trust you all to not be self-centered people, that if you are asking to see the course before race day you won’t ride the private roads except on race day.

If you have specific questions feel free to reach out to us, if you want a feel for the race, be sure to look at our photos from last year!

  • Get ready for some fun. Our races will maximize your smiles-per-mile with a timed-segment race format.

Rather than embracing the sufferfest of other races, we’re leaning into equal parts party on two wheels and mash those pedals. Ride with friends across each transfer stage, then drop the hammer through the finish of each timed segment. Regroup at the finish and ride together to the next segment.

Minimally, the Short course usually has one timed-segment, Intermediate course two timed-segments, and Long course will have three, covering up to 30-40% of the course distance.

  • Medical support: We manage our own team of on-course medical support in order to reduce the load on rural EMS resources.

Timed-segment race format: Our races include 1-4 timed segments, challenging riders over our favorite course sections. We utilize actual timing chips and boxes to track your time to the hundreths of a second.

Fully-stocked aid stations: Each course will have 2-4 aid stations fully stocked with fresh fruit, soft drinks, sports hydration, snacks…charcuterie boards, small cheeses, happy dogs and on occasion Gravel Mom and Gravel Dad!

Mechanical and SAG support: Our roving support vehicles carry mechanical assistance in addition to medical support. No matter what happens on-course, we’ll do our best to help you out.

Participant Raffle: We’ve got fantastic prizes this year as usual! We’ve got wheelsets and accessories from Full Speed Ahead, bags from The Spindle, Specialized is kicking in tires, sealants, gloves, helmets, clothing along with other prizes from Squirt Cycling, Vego Bears, ENO Hammocks, Wahoo, and more…

Post Race: We’ll have cold brews and microbrews courtesy of PBR. Cuban Island Cafe of Bonaire, Georgia is confirmed and will be our primary food truck on-site serving up food for purchase post race around 11:30am. Then, starting at 4p.m. Hawkinsville is having a Street Eats Saturday with a variety of different foods. Get some food and hang out for our raffles and podiums throughout the afternoon.

  • Think of this as race insurance. If you need to cancel your race weekend, this will give you the option to receive a full refund or transfer the full value of this race to a future race. If you think you might not make it, or want to transfer or refund, you need to do so a week before race day, or snap a selfie of you giving us the thumbs up from your hospital bed if inside of that. Inclement (cold, wet, wind) but not severe weather do not qualify for a refund.

  • We're working with the Loyalty Inn Hawkinsville and The Fairbridge Inn to offer our riders a killer rate of $75/night+tax at either hotel! Just call them up at +1-(478)-783-2914 and let them know you'll be there for the Pecan Shaker bike race to get the rates!

Camping will once again be available at the Hawkinsville City Park 153 Lower River Rd, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.

Tent camping on the grass only. If you have a trailer or van please park in or in parallel to parking spaces not across them so we can make enough room for everyone.

  • Hawkinsville will b having a spring market and street fair in the afternoon as our rider are coming in. Hang out, browse the boothsand gt some great food from several food trucks!
